Minimalist Packing for a Weekend Getaway

Travel is one of the best things that you can do for yourself. Of course, we’re all for a big trip whenever we can take one. But there’s something so special about a lowkey weekend getaway when you need a refresher. Of course, It’s easy to get caught up in overpacking whenever you go away. Sure, you might end up at a salsa bar on a late-night adventure, but you don’t need to make sure you have four dress options for that specific situation. We’ve put together a minimalist packing list for a weekend adventure, so you can spend less time packing and lugging around a heavy suitcase, and more time living in the moment. Of course, you’ll have to make adjustments depending on where you’re going and when, but this is a good starting point for you.

Jeans

In terms of keeping life easy and also keeping your clothing practices sustainable, jeans are meant to be worn at least four or five times before you have to wash them. So one pair for the weekend will be more than enough. Take your favorite comfortable pair, like these high-waisted skinny jeans so you can wear them even if you’re in for a full day of exploring.

Black T-Shirt

A simple tee is a must-have in your suitcase. This T-shirt will be so comfortable no matter what kind of trip you’re taking, and it will also be good if you need to dress up a bit. Just slip on some heels and a chambray top for a look that’s effortlessly chic.

Chambray Shirt

This is our favorite layering piece. You can wear it over a T-shirt, like we said, but you can also wear it tied around your waist with a dress to add a casual look or you can wear it tucked into jeans for a preppy, put-together style. With layering it, you’ll be able to get at least two wears out of your overshirt.

Shift Dress

Of course, if you have plans for a nice dinner out or any other event where you have to dress up, you’ll want a nicer dress. But for a versatile option that takes up minimal space, a black shift dress is your answer. You can wear it with sneakers and a chambray top for a day walking around museums. Then, add a belt and slip on some heels for a night out. If you want one extra wear, you can also wear it over a T-shirt for the perfect level of ‘90s-inspired style.

Sneakers

The right sneakers are probably the most important thing that you’ll pack for your weekend away. Keep comfort at the forefront of your decision, so you won’t have to say no to anything that comes your way. You can absolutely get away with rocking only sneakers the entire time you’re gone, but if you think you’ll want to dress up, a pair of chunky heels or some sandals will instantly take any outfit to the right place.

Day One

Pair your favorite jeans with a T-shirt, then layer on a chambray shirt
